Joking that Piers Morgan stole his gimmick: “I’m a huge Piers Morgan fan. His show was huge over here for a little while, but he’s not doing it any more. I think a lot of my character development came along before he was doing his shows so I suspect he took a lot of stuff from me, rather than the other way round. He’s copying Bad News Barrett.”

On bonding with British wrestling legend Robbie Brookside: “Robbie’s dad was a goalkeeper for North End.I was actually speaking to Robbie about this a couple of weeks ago when I was down at the Performance Center [in Florida] shaking off some ring rust. He said his dad didn’t play many games, I think he was mainly a reserve there. Then I think he left and joined the army.”
