ORIGINAL: In a post on Twitter, former WWE creative team member Brian Maxwell Mann said that Daniel Bryan’s character was set to come out as gay during his “love triangle” with the Bella Twins. WWE and the USA Network wanted to show a positive gay character. The storyline would end with Bryan revealing he was gay. Instead, he ended up turning down the Bellas for months just to reveal he was dating Gail Kim.
FUN FACT: In 2010, USA wanted WWE to introduce a positive gay character. The Bryan/Bellas triangle was supposed to lead to DB coming out.
