In an interview with Chris Jericho on Talk is Jericho, PJ “Justin Gabriel” Black revealed that he presented an idea for a gimmick to WWE but was turned down. Michael Hayes asked him for new character ideas. He came up with the “Darewolf”, which he used in the independents. It was a combination of a daredevil and a werewolf. He would film vignettes of himself doing extreme sports and other risky activities.
Vince McMahon liked the idea but Triple H didn’t. Gabriel didn’t even get to use the idea when he asked to go to NXT to work on it.
