According to sources, TNA is in talks with AAA about sending a team to the Mexican promotion’s Lucha Libre World Cup Trios tournament. The tournament takes place in mid-May and the hope is that this may re-open further talks between the two companies.
Getting a working agreement with AAA has been a target of Jeff Jarrett for GFW, and a TNA deal could cause problems there as TNA will be a rival for GFW once the latter promotion is running shows.
Currently AAA has one team in the tournament, that being Alberto El Patron, Rey Mysterio Jr. and Myzteziz. The second team representing the promotion will be determined in the next couple of tapings.
