UPDATE x 3: WWE is actively recruiting for the new season of Tough Enough, which airs on the USA Network starting in June. As previously reported, the company is looking for all different types of talent, including some with professional wrestling experience and some without.
Some of the talent that gets cast could be recognizable names in the wrestling business. One European wrestler was asked to tryout initially for WWE, but was later told that they wanted him to try out for Tough Enough instead. One indy wrestler–unnamed so far–has been told he’s “pretty much promised” a spot on the show.
WWE has been working with some big casting companies, who have done work for reality shows in the past. One of the companies is recruiting college and pro sports athletes.
UPDATE x 2: It’s now confirmed that the new season of WWE Tough Enough will have a current and up-to-date feel with the new episodes of the show scheduled to premiere in June.
Originally, WWE wanted to tape the episodes two months in advance, however the decision was recently made to tape the shows and air them soon after.
It’s also been confirmed that the show will feature a number of live and interactive elements. Fan voting is still said to be a possibility and live segments on USA Network, social media and the WWE Network are also expected.
While Chris Jericho was rumored to be taking over as the host of the show, he himself stated recently that he has had no talks about replacing Steve Austin as the host of the program. Then again, Jericho has a history of throwing people off when it comes to rumors about himself, so anything is possible.
UPDATE: At this time, it is being rumored that Chris Jericho will the new host of Tough Enough when the show returns to the USA Network on June 23rd.
While no announcement of the coaches has been made, some of the NXT coaches are expected to be involved with the show.
More details as they become available but it sure seems like Chris Jericho is taking over the roles that Steve Austin used to have (live podcast, Tough Enough, etc.).
