During an interview with ABC (which aired on Good Morning America and Nightline), Hulk Hogan was asked if he inherited a racial bias.
He said: “I would say that is very fair. The environment I grew up in….all my white friends, all my black friends, to hear that word on a daily basis. That’s how they would greet me in the morning. ‘Good morning, so and so.’ I think it was part of the culture and the environment that I grew up in.”
Now those in his hometown of Tampa are upset by what he said. One resident who grew up with Hogan, Linda Bryant, said: “That was not the culture when Terry grew up here. Terry was the first guy to ever be a role model for this neighborhood and he had the kids wrapped around his finger. He had the biggest fan base you ever could imagine and he did nothing with it.”
Another neighbor added that his children grew up next to Hogan’s house. He said: ““There was a time this area was poor but we didn’t say that word. My daughters not like that. My sons not like that.”
Finally, another neighbor concluded: “If you said it then own it.”
