During a WWE NXT talent meeting last Thursday, WWE officials discussed the company’s pay structure for NXT roster members. Senior Director of Talent Development Canyon Ceman and several coaches were present, and informed the talent that as it stands they will be paid based on their developmental contracts without bonuses based on the houses for shows like Takeover: Brooklyn and the December tour of the UK.
Talent was told that the reason for this has to do with the fact that currently NXT is run at a loss for the company as an investment in WWE’s long-term future with the salaries for talent, coaches, and the cost of running the Performance Center taken into account.
As we’ve previously reported, WWE covers the hotel and rental car cost for NXT talent on the road, which is something that doesn’t happen with main roster talent. NXT talent also make money off their merchandise. That being said, there is still some frustration among talent about the decision as they knew the December tour would be big, along with the sellout for Takeover: Brooklyn and the draw that NXT provides for the Network.
