UPDATE: Despite Konnan’s recent claims, it appears as if Alberto Del Rio won’t be dropping the AAA Mega Heavyweight Title to anyone. AAA’s Dorian Roldan said today that Del Rio will not be coming back to drop the belt, noting that while he wanted to his WWE contract won’t allow it.
Roldan said that a new champion will be crowned with a tournament that takes place next month at Guerra de Titanes.
ORIGINAL: Konnan discussed Alberto Del Rio’s WWE return on his latest podcast. The WWE alum shot down reports that Del Rio’s contract is as low as $450,000 on its downside guarantee, saying that there’s no way that Del Rio would go back to the WWE to make less money, which is what would happen at that level.
He added that Del Rio had three more TV dates on his AAA contract and that he plans to make one or both of the remaining ones that he hasn’t missed. He said that Del Rio was unable to attend the AAA TV date on November 2nd because it conflicted with RAW, but that the circumstances of Del Rio’s WWE departure in 2014 helped him work in a way to honor the remaining shows.
He noted that Del Rio is happy to have returned to WWE and has fixed whatever problems he had with WWE over his departure.
