Backstage Report – WWE Aggressively Seeking International Talents

According to sources, WWE is looking at another round of international signings (Mexico, Japan and the UK). NJPW’s Kazuchika Okada is the name that WWE is most interested in. While it has not been confirmed, New Japan was looking to lock him into a five-year deal. The company is also looking past New Japan and looking for talent from other Japanese promotions.

A top name from AAA and Lucha Underground, who has never worked for a mainstream U.S. promotion before, is unhappy with the Lucha Underground creative and WWE is interested in them.

Due to the weakness of the peso vs. the dollar, those who work in Mexico are looking for as much American work as possible. In the past most guys in Mexico could earn more by staying put, but now a WWE deal will make more for almost anyone.

Here’s a little unknown fact for ya’ – did you know that Jack Swagger smokes cigarettes? The only other WWE Superstars that we know of who smoke (or used to smoke) are The Big Show and Randy Orton. If you’re interested, you can click here to see a photo of Swagger puffing a smoke (cigarette).
