Neville vs Aries Payback Match Also had Ending Changed

Besides the RAW’s Women’s Championship match, another match at WWE Payback also had a last minute change done, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

The Cruiserweight Championship match between Austin Aries and champion Neville was originally planned to end with Neville defeating Aries prior to being changed at the last minute. WWE ended up giving Aries a DQ victory instead with the likely reasons of them not wanting Aries to suffer two pay-per-view losses in a row and to stretch the feud out for a bit longer.

The WWE is currently rumored to be considering another Aries versus Neville match for the Cruiser title to occur at June’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view. The match itself is also being rumored to possibly be a Triple Threat with TJP involved based on recent teases by the WWE.
