In terrible news, Tommaso Ciampa has reportedly suffered an unspecified injury to his ACL and will be undergoing surgery in Birmingham, AL this week, according to PWInsider.
Ciampa suffered a sprained ankle the day before the #DIY vs. Authors of Pain ladder match at NXT TakeOver but was still able to go. This injury is apparently unrelated to his original ankle injury and he reportedly injured his ACL during the TakeOver match, but was still able to finish.
There is no word on the severity of the injury right now or how long he may be out of action, but needing surgery surely is not a great sign and he will likely be out for at least a couple of months. Depending on the severity, ACL injuries can sometimes take 6-9 months for recovery. Hopefully that isn’t the case…
Ciampa and Gargano were in line for a major feud that would have likely lead to a match between them at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn.
