As previously reported, Austin Aries revealed during an interview with the Busted Open podcast show about wanting to take some time off to deal with current injuries. Aries hinted at it being a very short break but could change to something longer after taking a few days off to rest first.
During an interview with USA Today to promote his book, Austin Aries stated he never meant to imply he was taking some time off and instead was trying to explain how everyone in the WWE works while injured. Claimed people purposely misquoted him and wanted to make a story out of nothing as part of a rant against journalism.
“If you look at the full quote and what I said was, Everyone is dealing with various stuff. I don’t think there is anyone in the locker room is 100%. We’re all nicked and banged up to various degrees. Like anything else, you pick and choose the times you need address when it needs to be addressed and some times are better than others. I figure no matter what interview I do, the real good ‘journalists’ are going to find the completely irrelevant quotes that will drum up some controversy and stick it on their page to get some clicks and completely miss the real context of what the interview is about. That’s what we do nowadays and call it ‘journalism.’”
Aries stated him not being on tv this week was just him not being used for shows and nothing injury related.
