As previously reported, Austin Aries was released by the WWE yesterday after being with the company since early 2016.
In a recent update on the situation, Aries was reported to have asked his release due to being very unhappy at the direction of his career on the main roster, according to PWTorch. Aries supposedly was frustrated at being stuck in the Cruiserweight division and felt his WWE career had more potential outside of it.
PWTorch’s report also stated WWE officials were growing upset with Aries’ “bad attitude” backstage, which made it easier for them to quickly grant his release.
Aries is currently expected to return to the indies and possibly another stint at Ring of Honor or Global Force Wrestling should either company be interested.
