The main event for NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia on January 27 (Royal Rumble weekend) will be Andrade “Cien” Almas vs. Johnny Gargano for the NXT Championship.
At tonight’s NXT tapings, it was announced by William Regal that Drew McIntyre was injured, so there would be a series of matches to determine a new #1 contender. There were four singles matches, with the winners then wrestling in a fatal 4 way for a title shot.
Killian Dain defeated Trent Seven
Johnny Gargano defeated Kassius Ohno
Lars Sullivan defeated Roderick Strong
Aleister Black defeated Adam Cole
Johnny Gargano then won the fatal 4 way, pinning Aleister Black (after interference from the Undisputed Era) with a DDT.
