As previously reported, Lio Rush dealt with online backlash after he posted a joke on Twitter after Emma’s release earlier in the week. While some current and former WWE talent and management tried to defuse the situation, Rush received a lot of negative responses from both wrestlers and fans for both his tweet and his apology afterwards.
In an update to this situation, Dave Meltzer speculated in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that based on what he was hearing, had Lio Rush not quickly posted an apology, WWE may have actually considered firing him due to the amount of heat the incident generated within the company. Meltzer also said that Rush was likely going to have to work to get the heat off of him both from management and the locker room.
