WWE is reported to be currently targeting both New Japan Pro Wrestling and September’s All In event for an upcoming batch of talent signings, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
The Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported that there have been a lot of rumblings recently in Japan and among those associated with September’s All In event of WWE starting to contact talent in order to open talks and lure them away. Rey Mysterio, who will be at All In and upcoming New Japan events, is a name that WWE has already been in talks with since January.
The overall goal for WWE with these plans would be to hurt NJPW’s chances of becoming any sort of threat to them in the United States and to derail future All In type events.
