NXT Results – Aug. 29, 2018 – Dunne & Ricochet vs. Cole & Strong

In-Ring: Johnny Gargano, William Regal, Velveteen Dream

William Regal is outside of his office and he is asked about what is going on. William admits that it is about the Aleister Black investigation and he is starting it tonight.

Johnny Gargano makes his way to the ring and he has a crutch to help him make his way down the ramp. Johnny says that you have always had his back as the crowd chants “Johnny Wrestling”. He says that he does not deserve that right now. He says he loves the chants but he does not deserve it because he broke a promise. Johnny says he has made a lot of mistakes lately. He said if he won the title in Brooklyn, he would fix those problems, but he lost. Johnny says he failed you and he thought he could fix it and make it right.

Johnny says he does not know where he goes from here. He says he lost more than a match in Brooklyn. Johnny says he lost himself. Johnny says he has done a lot of stupid things lately and he does not know how to fix them. Johnny says he does not know what to do any more. After all he has been through, he does not know what is left. In Brooklyn, he became something he is not proud of. Johnny says he became Tommaso Ciampa. He is in his head and he cannot get him out. He does not know what to do or how to control it. He does not know how to feel and what they want from him. Johnny says he wants him out and he has to be better. He does not know how to do it.

William Regal’s music plays and he makes his way to the stage and then to the ring. William tells Johnny before Aleister Black comes and burns this whole place down, he needs to ask Johnny if he attacked Aleister Black.

Johnny says William has known him for a long time and he tells William to tell him. Regal says his opinion does not matter and he needs an answer. Johnny tells William to look into his eyes and you will see his answer.

Velveteen Dream makes his way to the stage. Dream says he is not in the mood tonight. He is sick and disgusted listening to the same old song. Woe is Johnny. This shouldn’t be about Johnny or a man who is not even in the building tonight. Tonight should be about The Experience. Tonight should be about the Experience that stole Brooklyn. The Experience that had the world buzzing. It should be about the trending topic of Brooklyn, it should be about the Velveteen Dream.

It should not be about Johnny Failure. Johnny says he likes “Johnny Failure”. The doctor gave him this crutch to keep the weight off his knee for a few days but he is good to go.

William Regal has to separate them. Regal tells Johnny to go to the back and Dream is told to go to his office. Regal says if they want to fight, it will happen next week.


Dakota Kai vs. Aliyah

They lock up and Aliyah backs Kai into the ropes and applies a side head lock after grabbing the hair. Aliyah with a take down but Kai with a head scissors. Aliyah escapes and Kai with a drop kick and kick followed by a double stomp and gets a near fall. Kai with a waist lock but Aliyah with an elbow and shoulder tackle. Kai misses a drop kick when Aliyah holds on to the ropes. Aliyah works on the back and applies a camel clutch and gives Kai some crossfaces. Aliyah stomps on the back and gets a near fall.

Kai with forearms but Aliyah with a punch and Irish whip. Aliyah with a running back elbow into the corner. Aliyah with a Thesz Press and punches for a near fall. Aliyah with a body scissors. Aliyah rolls Kai around the ring while holding on to the body scissors. Kai backs Aliyah into the turnbuckles to escape. Kai with a snap mare and scorpion kick. Kai with a Yakuza Kick followed by a face wash for a near fall. Aliyah takes Kai to the mat and then she returns to the back.

Kai with a sunset flip lungblower for the three count.

Backstage: William Regal, Blake, Cutler, Lail

William Regal is in his office and he is done with Velveteen Dream.

The next suspects are Wesley Blake, Steve Cutler, and Chad Lail. They are asked about the attack and Cutler says they have been waiting to talk to Regal. Blake says they didn’t do anything. They were parking and they were on their way to Regal’s office. No one could get to Aleister Black unless they were on the premises. Regal says they have their opportunity next week in a tag match.


Backstage: Lars Sullivan, EC3

We go to the back and EC3 is down as we see Lars Sullivan walking away.


Backstage: William Regal, Nikki Cross, Bianca Belair

We are back and Nikki Cross is in William Regal’s office and she is laughing and spinning in her chair. Regal wants to know what she saw. Nikki says it was beautiful and she saw it all. She says she knows who did it. Nikki wants to answer the phone even though it is not ringing. Nikki says she knows who did it.

Bianca Belair enters and she says she has been waiting all day for this. She tells Nikki to stop touching her hair. Bianca says Regal needs to do his job. She proved that she is ready for a title shot. Nikki says she wants to play. Bianca says she is waiting for Regal to make the right decision when Regal is done playing with his pet. Nikki asks William if she has any other questions.


Raul Mendoza vs. Lars Sullivan

Raul Mendoza is in the ring and Lars Sullivan makes his way to the stage. He says unlike the Aleister Black situation, he attacked EC3. When his name comes out of your mouth, he will rip off your limbs. Raul Mendoza, you are standing in Lars Sullivan Territory.

Sullivan with a head butt and crossfaces while the referee tries to get Sullivan out of the ring. Sullivan with more crossfaces and Mendoza is down. Sullivan with a pop up power slam followed by Freak Accident.


Backstage: Tommaso Ciampa

We are back and Tommaso Ciampa says peace and quiet. When he went away a year ago for ACL surgery, he made a promise. He promised to be the most dangerous SOB NXT would ever see. Ciampa says he exceeded expectations. He ended the Gargano Fairy Tale and then he captured the NXT Title. He is exactly what he says he is. He is the greatest sports entertainer of all time and this is his proof. It takes a certain type of man to scratch, claw, and climb to the top of the mountain. It takes a different kind of man to build his nest there and call it home. Tommaso Ciampa is the main event. Now, NXT is his home and this is just the beginning. No one will survive what’s coming next.


Keith Lee vs. Luke Menzies

Lee takes in the atmosphere in Full Sail and Menzies with a waist lock and Lee with a standing switch. Menzies with an elbow and forearms. Lee counters a spinebuster into a rana. Menzies with a forearm and European uppercuts. Lee with punches and Menzies is down. Menzies with forearms and punches. Menzies with a European uppercut and punches. Lee pushes Menzies away but Menzies with more forearms. Lee gets Menzies up and Lee with a float over and running shoulder tackle. Lee with a splash into the corner and then he chops across the chest with both hands.

Lee with a sit out power bomb for the three count.

Pete Dunne and Ricochet vs. Roderick Strong and Adam Cole (w/ Kyle O’Reilly)

Strong and Dunne start things off and Strong with a wrist lock. Dunne with a reversal into a wrist lock. Strong backs Dunne into the corner and Cole tags in. Cole kicks Dunne and applies a side head lock. Dunne with a clothesline. Dunne manipulates the fingers and Ricochet tags in. Cole gets to his corner and Strong tags in. Strong has a kick blocked and Ricochet with punches. Ricochet flips over the back and hits a handstand head scissors followed by a drop kick. Strong backs into the corner and Cole distracts Ricochet. Ricochet is sent into the turnbuckles and Cole tags in.

Strong with a chop and Ricochet kicks Strong and hits Cole with a forearm. Ricochet with a neck breaker to Strong. Ricochet with forearms and chops but Cole with a kick. Ricochet with a rolling clothelsine. Cole kicks Ricochet and catches him on his shoulders but Ricochet gets to his feet. Ricochet with a back elbow but he does not realize that Strong has tagged in and Strong with a half nelson back breaker. Strong kicks Ricochet in the corner.

Strong with a chop and forearm in the corner but Ricochet fights out of the corner until Strong gives Ricochet a drop toe hold to stop him. Cole tags in and kicks Ricochet. Cole with a neck breaker and then Strong tags back in. Strong kicks Ricochet and then he tags Cole back in. Strong with a gutbuster and then Cole with a double sledge from the turnbuckles for a near fall. Cole with a knee to the midsection and then he tags Strong back in. Cole Irish whips Ricochet into a boot from Strong and then Cole with a knee to allow Strong to get a near fall. Strong with a Cobra Clutch. Strong with a drop kick and he tags Cole back in.

Cole with a reverse chin lock into a front face lock and Strong tags back in. Strong with a forearm to the back and then he applies a sleeper. Ricochet with elbows to get out of the hold. Ricochet with a clothesline and both men are down. Cole tags in and he runs into boots from Ricochet. Ricochet avoids a charge by Cole. Strong and Dunne tag in. Dunne with a boot to the chest and then to the leg. Dunne with a back body drop. Strong with an Irish whip and Dunne flips out of the corner and hits an enzuigiri. Dunne with a forearm to Cole. Dunne lands on his feet on a German suplex by Strong. Dunne with a kick and then he gives Cole an X Plex onto Strong and Dunne gets a near fall. Ricochet with a twisting suplex to Cole but Strong with kicks to Dunne.

Dunne with a triangle but Strong tries for a Strong Hold. Dunne with a German Suplex and sit out power bomb but Cole breaks up the cover. Cole sends Ricochet to the floor. Cole sets for a super kick but Dunne blocks it. Ricochet with an elbow off the turnbuckles. Strong with a forearm to Ricochet but Dunne with a kick to Strong to send him to the floor. Dunne goes to the ring post for a moonsaut onto Strong and Cole.

Ricochet goes for a suicide dive but Strong is pulled out of the way and Ricochet hits Dunne. Strong with a knee to Ricochet and then Dunne is sent into the ring. Cole with the Last Shot to Dunne for the three count.

Winners: Roderick Strong and Adam Cole

After the match, The Undisputed Era celebrate in the ring, but Cole suggests that Ricochet be brought back into the ring to get a better beat down. Kyle with a knee and Strong with a back breaker. Cole with a brainbuster shoulder breaker.

The music for the War Raiders plays and they make their way to the ring. Cole, O’Reilly, and Strong decide it is better to fight another day than deal with a fresh team. The Undisputed Era have some words for the War Raiders on the ramp.
