Paige Comments on Anniversary of Her Final Wrestling Match

Paige recently reflected on Twitter about last Friday being the one-year anniversary of her final match in her wrestling career.

20th Anniversary of Mick Foley’s First WWF Championship Victory

In a Wrestling History type fact, yesterday was the 20th anniversary of Mankind’s (Mick Foley) first WWF Championship victory.

Mankind defeated The Rock for the WWF Championship during a WWF RAW is War television taping held on December 29, 1998 in Worcester, Massachusetts. This episode aired on January 4, 1999 due to RAW at the time only aired live episodes bi-weekly.

This moment is notable in wrestling history for being a major turning point in the Monday Night Wars between WWF and WCW, with WCW Monday Nitro announcer Tony Schiavone’s infamous spoiler of RAW’s main event resulting in a huge shift of viewers away from Nitro to watch Foley’s victory on RAW, and the infamous “Finger Poke of Doom” match between Hulk Hogan and WCW World Heavyweight champion Kevin Nash held on Nitro moments after Foley’s memorable victory.
