Abyss and Sonjay Dutt have both left Impact Wrestling and are reportedly WWE-bound, according to PWInsider.
Impact let their roster know about the news in an email today. Their departures were said to be amicable and it was described as Impact not wanting to hold them back from “great opportunities” that they were offered. Impact wished them well in the email.
According to multiple sources, they will both be working for WWE soon. Both played primarily backstage roles in the company and will likely be doing the same in WWE.
Abyss is a TNA/Impact original and had been with TNA from the start in 2002. Last year, he was inducted into the Impact Wrestling Hall of Fame. He had been working as a producer for Impact.
Dutt was one of the top writers on Impact’s creative team, along with Don Callis, Scott D’Amore and Jimmy Jacobs. He was also a producer. Dutt worked in TNA from 2003-2009, 2012-2013 and 2017 until now.
As a result of Dutt leaving the company, Tommy Dreamer and Konnan have been added to the Impact creative team, PWInsider says.
