Ring of Honor’s parent company, Sinclair Broadcast Group, reportedly is currently in talks with both the New York Yankees and Chicago Cubs regarding potential new regional sports TV channels, according to the Chicago Sun Times and Sports Pro Media.
At the moment, ROH currently does not air in the three biggest television markets in the United States, which are New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago.
The Chicago Sun Times reported that Sinclair has been in recent talks with the Chicago Cubs, which the team currently denies, for a potential partnership deal on a new cable sports network covering the Chicago market. This new network would be called Marquee and launch no earlier than 2020. It is expected that ROH programming would be included on this new network as part of the terms of the potential deal, since Sinclair owns ROH.
Sports Pro Media reported Sinclair has also been in recent talks with the both the New York Yankees and Amazon regarding a potential joint ownership offer for the YES Network, which is currently the cable network home of the Yankees.
