Various: More Details on AEW & Britt Baker Signing, Halloween Havoc Trademark, Indies

More Details on All Elite Wrestling

As noted before, The Elite announced that they are officially launching a new wrestling company called All Elite Wrestling this year.

Britt Baker reportedly has signed a multi-year contract with the company, according to the Wrestling Observer.

B.J. Whitmer is also currently expected to sign a contract soon with the company for a backstage role, according to PWInsider. Whitmer previously worked for ROH in a similar role prior to departing last month over lingering issues with ROH management.

In regards to AEW contracts, the company reportedly has been signing talent to “holding” contracts that will convert to full-time contracts once a television deal is made official, according to PWTorch. These contracts were reported to be quite lucrative in value with low end contracts being in “a good six figure” range.

WWE Halloween Havoc Trademark Dispute Update

As noted before, WWE recently filed official opposition to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office regarding a Halloween Havoc trademark filed last June by a company called KBN INC. WWE’s ownership of the original WCW trademark had been abandoned since 2005 and WWE had no active trademarks related to the term prior to KBN’s own filing.

In an update to the legal status of the Halloween Havoc trademark, PWInsider’s Steven Fernandes reported WWE filed a new trademark for the term on September 2018 but was recently given an initial refusal by the USPTO. It was reported this was due to the likelihood of confusion with KNB’s filing since KBN currently holds first priority for the trademark. Another official reason was due to issues regarding the ambiguity of some of the wording within WWE’s filing.
