Rey Fenix Injured at Indie Show, Taken to a Hospital (Updated)

Rey Fenix was injured tonight at an AAW show in Austin, TX and was taken to a local hospital. It’s not known how serious the injury is yet, but AAW tweeted that he was taken to a local hospital “as a precaution.”

The injury happened during a Lucha Bros vs. AR Fox & Myron Reed match when Fenix hit a cutter on Reed, then appeared to hurt the back of his neck or head. The match immediately went to the finish, where Pentagon hit Fox with his finisher to win the match, also winning the AAW Tag Team titles for the Lucha Bros.

After the match, Pentagon checked on Fenix and he appeared to be favoring his neck, as seen in the video below.

Fenix was then “stretchered” to the back on a table and according to AAW, was taken to a local hospital “as a precaution.”

AAW posted an update that he has been released from the hospital, has a muscle contusion, and will be back to 100% soon with some rest.

Dave Meltzer reported that he should be OK in a week or so. He’s expected to be at Impact’s TV tapings in Las Vegas next weekend.
