A “mask vs. hair” match between Rey Mysterio and Andrade was WWE’s original plan and was “on the books” for WrestleMania at one point, but the idea “fell by the wayside,” according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
As of now, Rey Mysterio is booked to face Samoa Joe for the US title at WrestleMania.
Dave Meltzer speculated that a possible reason why it didn’t happen is that WWE didn’t want Andrade to lose his hair.
WWE had been building a rivalry between Mysterio and Andrade for weeks, but for now, it seems to be on the back burner. But that WWE had actually planned it at one point means that they could always come back to it some time down the line.
