Mike Kanellis, who requested his release from WWE in October, returned to the ring for the first time last night at an NXT house show in Melbourne, FL.
Kanellis teamed with Tony Nese to defeat the team of Nick Ogarelli and Mohamed.
WWE is testing out the Kanellis and Nese team for a possible eventual move to NXT TV, according to PWInsider.
Kanellis’ release request was obviously not granted by WWE. He and Maria Kanellis signed new five year contracts in June. Maria has not requested her release.
