Ronda Rousey is not in the plans for a WrestleMania 36 match right now, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. “According to what we are told, Rousey will not be wrestling this year at Mania,” Dave Meltzer said in the Observer.
As of now, the plan is for Charlotte Flair to face Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania.
Rousey last wrestled at WrestleMania 35 in the triple threat against Becky Lynch and Charlotte, which Becky won to capture both women’s titles.
Last month, Rousey told People Magazine that she’s in “no rush” to return to WWE. “I think I need to figure out a different way of doing it. To be able to not have to choose career over family or family over career and kind of find that happy medium,” she said. “Right now, I think my family needs my undivided attention. I’m happy to give them that. But I’m trying to figure out a way or a system or somehow that I could give both my family and WWE the best of me and not be half ass in both.”
In October, Triple H said that Rousey is coming back eventually. “Don’t have a specific timeline, but she’s with us. This is family for her. She’s coming back. She has said it. She calls us all the time. She talks to everybody all the time, she’s constantly with us, and she’s constantly pitching her return. So if I had to guess, it would be sooner than later, but who knows?”
Rousey is reportedly under contract with WWE until April 10, 2021.
