NJPW announced the entire list of participants and the first round of matches for this year’s New Japan Cup tournament, which takes place from March 4th to 21st in Japan. It was also announced that all of this year’s tournament events will air live on New Japan World.
The winner of this tournament will earn an automatic title shot for the IWGP Heavyweight and IWGP Intercontinental Championships at Sakura Genesis 2020, which takes place on March 31st at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan.

March 4th – Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan:
- Colt Cabana vs. Bad Luck Fale
- Toru Yano vs. Chase Owens
- Togi Makabe vs. Jeff Cobb
- Tomhiro Ishii vs. Toa Henare
March 7th – Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium in Aichi, Japan:
- Kazuchika Okada vs. Jay White
- Yuji Nagata vs. Minoru Suzuki
- Juice Robinson vs. Alex Coughlin
- David Finlay vs. Tanga Loa
March 8th – Baycom Gymnasium in Hyogo, Japan:
- Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Taichi
- Kota Ibushi vs. Zack Sabre Jr.
- Mikey Nicholls vs. SANADA
- Will Ospreay vs . Shingo Takagi
March 9th – Kochi Prefectural Gymnasium in Kochi, Japan:
- Hiroyoshi Tenzan vs. YOSHI-HASHI
- Karl Fredericks vs. KENTA
- Satoshi Kojima vs. EVIL
- Hirooki Goto vs. Yujiro Takahashi
The second round matches will take place from March 10-14, the quarterfinals will take place from March 16-18, and the semifinals will take place on March 20th. The finals of this year’s New Japan Cup tournament will take place on March 21st in Niigata, Japan.
