All Japan Pro Wrestling announced that General Manager Jun Akiyama will be visiting the United States in May for a meeting with Triple H.
Akiyama will also visit the WWE Performance Center for guest coaching duties from May 12th to May 22nd.
Tokyo Sports reported that Akiyama and Triple H first met in June of last year during WWE’s tour of Japan. It was also reported that this meeting likely was to gauge AJPW’s interest in a potential partnership between the two companies.
In the same report, All Japan Pro Wrestling president Takeki Fukuda was interviewed for his thoughts regarding a potential future partnership with WWE. “I haven’t decided anything yet, and I’m looking forward to the future. I hope this visit will have a positive impact on each other,” he said.
WWE reportedly has been working on plans to debut a new NXT Japan brand within the near future and has been in contact with various Japanese promotions and talent regarding these plans.
