This year’s WWE SummerSlam is currently scheduled to take place on August 23rd at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts, but the status of the show in the city is now in serious doubt, based on comments from Boston’s mayor Marty Walsh.
Walsh recently stated that the city’s ban on large public gatherings is currently expected to be maintained until September 7th due to the on-going coronavirus pandemic. This would make it impossible for WWE to hold their scheduled SummerSlam 2020 festivities in the city.
I can announce that parades and festivals will not take place this summer in the City of Boston,

up to and including Labor Day on September 7.
For smaller events, we will be looking at them on a case-by-case basis as we move through the summer months.

Besides SummerSlam itself, three other events WWE had planned for SummerSlam weekend in the city would also be affected. They are the August 21st episode of Friday Night SmackDown, an expected NXT TakeOver event on August 22nd, and the August 24th episode of RAW.
