Renee Young tweeted tonight that she has contracted COVID-19.
Man. What a few days. My show gets cancelled and I get Covid. Wear your masks and wash your hands. Stay safe, everyone ❤️
— Renee Young (@ReneeYoungWWE) June 25, 2020
She last appeared in an in-ring segment on the June 19 SmackDown, which was taped on June 15. AJ Styles was in the ring with her and the ring was surrounded by several other WWE wrestlers. We don’t know when Renee contracted the virus.
As reported earlier today, several WWE in-ring performers and staff reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 this week. In response, WWE released a statement to media saying, “WWE will continue COVID-19 testing of its talent, production crew and employees in advance of TV productions for the foreseeable future.”
Renee’s husband Jon Moxley was pulled from AEW Dynamite earlier today because he “had contact with someone who had contact with someone who has COVID-19.” Moxley was replaced on the show with a Brian Cage squash mash and segment. Moxley is scheduled to defend the AEW Championship against Cage at AEW Fyter Fest, which will air on July 8, but will likely be taped next week. There’s no update on his status as of right now.
