New TakeOver Match
Io Shirai (c) vs. Dakota Kai for the NXT Women’s Championship is now official for NXT TakeOver XXX on Saturday, August 22.
Kai defeated Rhea Ripley on NXT tonight to earn the title shot.
This match and the North American title ladder match are the only two matches announced so far.
Dexter Lumis Pulled From TakeOver Match
William Regal announced tonight that Dexter Lumis, who qualified for the North American Title ladder match at TakeOver last week, will no longer be able to compete in the match because of an “ankle injury” that he suffered in his match last week.
Instead, to determine two of the competitors in the ladder match, there will be two singles matches on August 19 with the four losing men in the qualifying matches who didn’t get pinned or submitted. Finn Balor, Johnny Gargano and Ridge Holland are three of the four.
A fourth qualifying match will take place next week between Kushida, Cameron Grimes and a mystery opponent.
Bronson Reed and Damian Priest have so far qualified for the five man ladder match.
