As noted before, WWE is currently working on plans for a new NXT India brand. The first set of tapings for this brand are currently scheduled to take place in January 2021.
Post Wrestling’s John Pollock reported that one source stated that WWE currently has an “India Special” scheduled on their tapings calendar for January 22nd at their Performance Center. Pollock also reported that WWE held a photoshoot this week for their Indian talent who will be involved in this new NXT brand.
Pollock also reported that the official launch date of this new brand is currently not known and it might not be a weekly series at the start based on several sources spoken to. One source stated that WWE officials are currently considering holding a one or two-night event to officially introduce the brand while a weekly series would arrive at a later date, similar to what the company did for the launch of their NXT UK brand.
In regards to broadcast plans for the new brand, Pollock reported that the current plans are for it to air on Sony’s platforms in India and the WWE Network for elsewhere.
It was also reported that this new brand has not been confirmed to be called “NXT India” but WWE’s plans for this new brand have evolved and shifted many times with more changes possibly occurring before its official announcement is made.
