As noted before, WWE laid off a portion of their staff earlier this week as part of recent restructuring plans to eliminate “redundancy” jobs.
Wrestlenomics’ Brandon Thurston reported that the total number of employees laid off this week by WWE is around sixty with the head of WWE Studios, Susan Levison, among the notable people who were laid off.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that WWE’s Advanced Media Group and WWE Studios departments were hit the hardest for staff cuts. Johnson reported that the cuts made to WWE’s Advanced Media Group came as a big shock to those working in the department since it had grown greatly in importance and revenues for the company during the coronavirus pandemic.
Johnson also reported that there was a “gallows humor” type joke going around by some of those who were laid off that pointed out just last week the company had sent an internal email offering bonuses for employee referrals. The joke involved those people considering the idea of refereeing themselves to get their job back and a bonus in the process.
