During Sunday’s Wrestle Grand Slam in MetLife Dome 2021 event in Saitama, Japan, New Japan Pro Wrestling announced the full field of competitors and blocks for this year’s G1 Climax tournament.
This year’s tournament will take place from September 18th to October 21st in Japan with the winner to receive a title shot for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at next year’s Wrestle Kingdom 16 event.
Due to the on-going coronavirus pandemic in Japan and travel-related quarantine issues, this year’s tournament does not feature any of NJPW’s foreign-based talent who have not recently traveled to or worked at recent NJPW shows in the country.
