Cody Rhodes’ Return to WWE Wins Best WWE Moment Award at ESPYS

ESPN held their ESPYS 2022 awards show this past Wednesday celebrating the memorable sporting events and moments of the past year.

During the show, it was announced that Cody Rhodes’ return to WWE at this past April’s WrestleMania 38 event was the winner of this year’s Best WWE Moment of the Year ESPY award.

Following his award victory, WWE held an interview with Rhodes discussing his thoughts about being named the winner of this year’s Best WWE Moment award.

“It’s very stirring. I was excited to be nominated, and it was a significant moment for me. It was the best decision that I’ve ever made in my wrestling career, coming back, but I’m nominated with guys like ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, The Undertaker, and John Cena, so to be the one who’s taking home the WWE moment of the year feels good. It’s a little bit if that new blood. I’m still angry Cody from 2015, so to be able to show up and be like, ‘They voted for me,’ it’s definitely not something I take for granted. If anything, it’s kind of positioned me where I’m looking at 2023. I’ve just enjoyed this red carpet enough that I need to be back, so you gotta find another moment. And I think I know what that moment could be, in terms of getting back here again for another ESPY WWE Moment of the Year.”

During her promo, Jade stated that she was done being naive over her outlook in NXT and threw her NXT Women’s Tag Team title belt in a trash can due to it no longer meaning anything to her.

Following the show, WWE updated their official roster page listing Perez as still being one-half of the current NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions and the other half being listed as vacant, confirming Jade longer being recognized as its co-champion.
