Impact Wrestling held their first set of Lone Star Stampede themed Impact! tapings on Friday in Dallas, Texas. These tapings will air on September 1st and September 8th on AXS TV.
Among the notable matches held that night included the Impact World Tag Team Championship match and X-Division Championship match.
In regards to the Impact Tag Team titles match, The OGK (Mike Bennett & Matt Taven) defeated The Good Brothers (Doc Gallows & Karl Anderson) to be crowned the new Impact World Tag Team Champions. The reason for the title change is likely due to the status of the Good Brothers contracts with Impact, which are currently believed to expire after this weekend’s set of television tapings.
In regards to the X-Division Championship, “Speedball” Mike Bailey defeated Kenny King to retain his title. This match was restarted following King initially defeating Bailey due to interference by Maria Kanellis at ringside.
In regards to new debuts at the tapings, New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Yuya Uemura and indie wrestlers Aussie Open (Kyle Fletcher & Mark Davis) and Mascara Dorada (former Gran Metalik in WWE) made surprise appearances at the tapings.
