As noted before, Warner Bros Discovery officials recently lifted their ban on the Briscoes Brothers not being allowed to make appearances on AEW programming on their networks. This ban was originally believed to be due to WBD officials issues with past homophobic comments made by the late Jay Briscoe.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that there was a second big reason for WBD’s recent ban against the Briscoes. Those spoken to reportedly stated that this was due to WBD officials being uncomfortable with the Briscoes’ past usage of the Confederate flag on their entrance jackets and ring gear for their matches.
This flag has been a source of longtime controversy in the United States, most recently involving the removal of Confederate statues over the view that they glorify slavery, racism, white supremacy, segregation, and other controversial issues.
