This past Tuesday’s WWE NXT show featured a singles match between JD McDonagh and Carmelo Hayes, which was won by Hayes. During the match, Ilja Dragunov made his surprise return causing McDonagh to be distracted leading to the finish of the match. Following the match, Dragunov attacked and chased McDonagh through the crowd.
McDonagh recently announced on Twitter that he had suffered a detached retina injury in his right eye after being struck in the face by Dragunov during their brawl on this past Tuesday’s show. McDonagh stated that due to his injury, he will be unable to make an appearance at this weekend’s NXT house show events in Florida and is currently expected to be out of action for the next 10 to 14 days as a result.
.@WWENXT fans attending Live Events in Tampa/Citrus Springs this weekend – Unfortunately, after a sneak attack on Tuesday, I've got a detached retina in my right eye.

Waiting on a treatment plan, but I estimate a 10-14 day recovery time.
