Tonight’s AEW Dynamite show in Winnipeg, Canada featured a TBS Championship Open Challenge match between champion Jade Cargill and a mystery opponent.
This mystery opponent was revealed to be Canadian indies wrestler Nicole Matthews, who lost in a quick squash to Cargill.
Following the match, Cargill berated Renee Paquette in a post-match interview asking if that was all that Canada had to offer for a worthy opponent. Cargill’s promo was interrupted by Taya Valkyrie making her surprise official debut in AEW. This segment ended with a brawl between Valkyrie and Cargill & Leila Grey resulting in Valkyrie standing tall in the end.
Following the segment, AEW CEO Tony Khan announced on Twitter that Valkyrie recently signed an official contract with the company.
