In the lead-up to tonight’s Dynamite show in Sunrise, Florida, AEW had announced that it would be featuring an announcement by AEW CEO Tony Khan.
During the show, Khan revealed that his big announcement was that AEW would be holding this year’s Owen Hart Foundation Cup tournament starting with “opening ceremonies” at next month’s Double or Nothing 2023 event in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Khan also stated that matches for the tournament will be taking place at AEW’s upcoming shows in Canada, including their Forbidden Door 2 event on June 25th in Toronto.
Khan also stated that the Finals for this year’s tournament will be taking place at Hart’s hometown of Calgary on July 15th.

This will be the second time that AEW will be holding an Owen Hart Foundation Cup tournament, following last year’s inaugural tournament which saw Adam Cole and Britt Baker winning their respective Men’s and Women’s tournaments.
