As noted before, Kenny Omega’s contract with AEW is currently set to expire in early 2023. In a recent interview with the Haus of Wrestling podcast, Konnan had stated that the reason why Omega was not booked for Lucha Libre AAA’s Triplemania show this weekend was due to him being busy negotiating a potential new contract with AEW. Konnan also stated that he believed that Omega has recently signed a new deal with AEW.
Dave Meltzer reported in a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio that his sources stated that Omega has yet to sign a new official contract with AEW.
Meltzer reported that Omega is still working under his previous contract with AEW that had originally expired this past January but was extended for injury time by around nine months due to Omega’s lengthy injury absence.
Meltzer also reported that Omega’s current contract is expected to expire around this November or December.
In a recent interview with CBC’s Front Runner radio show, Omega stated that he is currently unsure over the future of his wrestling career. Omega stated:
“I always kind of try to find my own way, or at least try to lean in the direction of where my heart is pulling me. I haven’t had that sort of epiphany yet.”
