Warner Bros Discovery reportedly is currently interested in the idea of potentially having WWE programming on their networks, according to journalist James Andrew Miller.
In a recent episode of the SI Media with Jimmy Traina podcast, Miller reported that his sources stated that Warner Bros Discovery has recently shown interest for a potential television deal with WWE. Miller stated that he would be surprised if WBD were to not give an offer to WWE for their RAW series during WWE’s upcoming negotiations for their next television rights contracts.
“I think so. And I wouldn’t be surprised, despite the fact that money is such an issue for them, I wouldn’t be surprised if Warner Brothers Discovery wouldn’t like a slice of that WWE pie.”
Miller also stated that should WBD manage to sign a television deal with WWE for RAW, it is possible that they could move RAW from its traditional weekly Monday night spot to a different night instead on TNT or TBS. Miller stated that the reason would be due to Monday being the toughest night for sports-related competition all year round.
“Monday Night does not have to be on Monday night. Monday night is a tough night, because if you go through the calendar all year round, there’s sports on Monday night. And you could, if you’re Warner Brothers Discovery, you could say, we’re gonna move it to a different night, we could have the NBA on Thursday night, but we’re gonna figure out a different night for it and all of a sudden it becomes very attractive.”
In response to a question about if WBD would want both WWE and AEW programming or would replace AEW with WWE on their networks, Miller stated that this is something that is currently not known.
“I don’t know. I just know there are people at Warner Brothers who are interested [in WWE].”
