This past Sunday’s AEW Double or Nothing 2023 event in Las Vegas,Nevada featured Kris Statlander making her surprise return from injury and defeating Jade Cargill in an impromptu match for the TBS Championship.
Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that AEW officials had plans in place for quite some time for Statlander to be the person to beat Cargill for the TBS title. These plans reportedly dated back at least several weeks ago.
Besides Statlander being penciled in for a TBS title reign, it was reported that another reason why Cargill dropped the TBS title at Double or Nothing 2023 was due to Cargill is currently planned to be taking some time off soon and as early as right after this past Sunday’s event. It was reported that AEW officials currently have plans for Cargill’s return to include a personality shift.
In regards to Statlander’s return from injury, it was reported that she had been on the road with AEW often during her recovery and was working out in the ring ahead of a recent Dynamite show.
