Tonight’s Against All Odds 2023 event for Impact Wrestling featured the main event of the Impact World Championship match between Alex Shelley and champion Steve Maclin.
This match featured Shelley defeating Maclin to be crowned the new Impact World Champion for the first time in his almost 20-year career with the company.
The finish to the match involved Shelley attempting to hit Maclin with a Shell Shock only to miss and be nailed by a KIA from Maclin for a near fall, Both men then went up to the top rope where Shelley hit Maclin with a Slice Bread #2 but also only got a near fall out of it. Afterwards, Shelley dodged Maclin rushing to him in the corner resulting in Maclin hitting his head on the exposed turnbuckle. After fighting off some more attacks by Maclin, Shelley countered with a Shell Shock for the pinfall and championship victory.
