As noted before, WWE currently is planning for more main roster talent to work on their NXT brand following the ratings success for their NXT Gold Rush Week 1 show earlier this month that featured Seth Rollins making his NXT return appearance.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that besides main roster talent appearing more often on NXT, WWE officials also currently have plans for more NXT brand talent to also make appearances more often on their RAW and SmackDown shows. Meltzer reported that the idea being WWE trying to get their main roster audience to become more familiar with their NXT brand talent and give them bigger television exposure.
Meltzer reported that WWE officials main goals with using main roster talent on NXT shows is both to try to boost NXT’s ratings and also make NXT shows feel more unpredictable over the idea of anyone from the main roster could show up at any time. Meltzer also reported that this would also allow talent who are not doing anything on the main roster to make regular appearances in NXT.
Meltzer also reported that WWE officials recently held talks regarding potential plans to hold NXT television tapings outside of their Performance Center in Orlando at some point in the future. WWE officials reportedly also recently held talks regarding running NXT house show tours outside of Florida again like they did prior to the start of the COVID pandemic.
