Sunday’s Dominion 2023 event for New Japan Pro Wrestling in Osaka, Japan featured the Finals of the #1 Contender for the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship tournament between Will Ospreay and Lance Archer.
Following a back-and-forth match, Ospreay hit Archer with his Hidden Blade finisher to pick up the pinfall victory and become the next official challenger for Kenny Omega’s IWGP U.S. Heavyweight title.
In a post-match promo to the crowd, Ospreay called out Omega and stated that their match would be “Ospreay vs. Canada” and in the process revealing that it would be taking place AEW and NJPW’s upcoming co-promoted Forbidden Door II event on June 25th in Toronto, Canada.
