Elton Prince Reportedly Suffered Injury, Ridge Holland Denies Overhead Suplex as Cause

Friday’s WWE SmackDown show in Raleigh, North Carolina featured a tag team match of Pretty Deadly (Elton Prince & Kit Wilson) vs. The Brawling Brutes (Ridge Holland & Sheamus), which was won by Pretty Deadly.

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that Prince had suffered a separated shoulder injury during the match. Johnson reported that this was the reason why Prince was seen sporting an arm sling during today’s episode of SmackDown LowDown.

Johnson reported that it is currently not known how long Prince will be out of action but speculated that it will be for at least a few weeks.

Holland recently responded on Twitter to the online criticisms blaming his overhead suplex spot to Prince tossing him onto Wilson as the cause of the injury. Holland stated it was not his overhead suplex spot but instead it was a pounce he delivered to Wilson that resulted in Wilson landing awkwardly on his shoulder.

In a follow-up report, Johnson reported that the general reaction within WWE was that there was no one to blame for the injury and instead it was just a “freak thing” that can happen due to the physicality of the wrestling business.

Holland previously was involved in a scary incident involving him delivering an overhead suplex to Big E onto the floor that led to Big E suffering a broken neck. Holland revealed that he and his family received death threats over it on the one-year anniversary of the accident.
