WWE NXT Notes: Tyler Bate Wins Dar’s Heritage Cup, Two Matches Announced for NXT Heatwave

Tyler Bate Wins Noam Dar’s Heritage Cup Title

Tuesday’s WWE NXT show featured a Heritage Cup Championship match of Tyler Bate vs. Noam Dar for Dar’s Heritage Cup.

Going into the fifth round, both Bate and Dar were tied at one point a piece and whoever scored the next point would be the winner or else Dar would retain his Cup with a draw decision after the end of a sixth round.

The finish to this match involved Bate hitting Dar with a release German suplex causing Dar to land right onto his face. Bate then hit Dar with a back fist but when he tried a rebound clothesline, Dar countered by catching Bate’s leg and applied a knee bar. After some more back-and-forth action including Mensah trying and failing to interfere in the match, Dar rolled up Bate for a nearfall only to be countered by Bate’s roll-up for the pinfall victory to become the new Heritage Cup Champion for Dar’s version of the Cup.

Two Matches Announced for NXT Heatwave

Tuesday’s NXT show also featured two matches announced for NXT’s next television special called NXT Heatwave on August 22nd.

The first match announced is a singles match of Trick Williams vs. Ilja Dragunov.

This match was setup during an in-ring promo segment involving Williams and Dragunov, who aired their grievances towards each other over their issues in recent weeks. Following some back-and-forth heated banter, Williams issued a challenge to Dragunov for a match at NXT Heatwave in two weeks. Dragunov responded stating that he will grant Williams request and threatened that this is where Williams career will die.

The second match announced is a NXT Heritage Cup Championship match of Noam Dar vs. Nathan Frazer (c).

This match was setup following a backstage segment involving Meta-Four, Tyler Bate, and Frazer. Meta-Four confronted Bate backstage demanding for Bate to give back his Heritage Cup to Dar since he needed it in order to feel better about himself. Bate refused stating that he won it fairly while Meta-Four claimed that he cheated to win. This led to Frazer interrupting and offering to put his Heritage Cup on the line against Dar as long as Dar admitted to his Cup being the fake one. Dar reluctantly admitting that his Cup was not the genuine one but also told Mensah he was only lying about what he was saying. Frazer stated that Dar’s response was good enough for him and gave Dar a shot at his Cup. Bate then handed over his Cup back to Dar and gave an upset look to Frazer, who responded that he knows he owes him a favor with a Cup match in the future.
