WWE RAW Notes: Piper Niven Revealed as Chelsea Green’s New Women’s Tag Titles Partner, WWE World Title & IC Title Matches Set

Piper Niven Makes Surprise Return & Revealed as Chelsea Green’s New WWE Women’s Tag Title Partner

Monday’s WWE RAW show in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada featured Piper Niven making her surprise return and being revealed as Chelsea Green’s new tag team partner for her WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.

This was setup following a backstage segment involving WWE official Adam Pearce and Green. Pearce stated that due to Sonya Deville’s recent ACL injury, he was prepared to have Deville and Green relinquish their Women’s Tag Team titles. Green interrupted stating that she refused to hand over her tag titles and instead would hold a Chelsea’s Got Talent tryout to find her new tag partner. This led to Kayden Carter and Katana Chance interrupting and stating that they wanted a shot at Green’s tag team titles once she finds a new partner. Chance then got taken out by a punch by Piper Niven, who attacked Carter right afterwards. Niven told Green that she would be her new tag team partner and grabbed one of the tag title belts despite Green’s initial reservation.

This was Niven’s first appearance on WWE’s RAW brand since this past April.

Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Seth Rollins Announced for WWE World Title

Monday’s RAW show in Winnipeg, Canada also featured the announcement of a WWE World Heavyweight Championship match of Shinsuke Nakamua vs. Seth Rollins (c) at a future WWE event.

This match was setup following an in-ring segment involving Nakamura and Rollins. WWE announcer Michael Cole gave an in-ring interview to Nakamura and asked Nakamura why he decided to attack Rollins last week. Nakamura responded first in Japanese and afterwards in English saying that he did it because he wanted the WWE World title.

Before Nakamura could finish, Rollins’ music played and he interrupted stating that if Nakamura wanted a title shot, all he had to do was just ask. Rollins then granted a shot to Nakamura for his title and told him to name the date and place. Nakamura then whispered something to Rollins’ ear causing Rollins to have a surprised reaction and hit him with a Kinshasa afterwards.

Intercontinental Title Match Announced for Next Week’s RAW Show

Monday’s RAW show in Winnipeg also featured the official announcement of an Intercontinental Championship match of Chad Gable vs. Gunther (c) for the card of next week’s RAW show in Quebec City, Canada.

This match was initially setup following Gable’s victory in a #1 Contender Fatal Four-way match at last week’s RAW show in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

In a promo segment during tonight’s show, Gunther stood on top of the announcer’s desk and gave some praise to Gable but also mocked him over thinking he had any chance of dethroning him as Intercontinental Champion. Alpha Academy interrupted and Gable stated that he has been waiting and working for the past ten year to get a big opportunity and was ready to take the Intercontinental title.

Following Gable’s victory over Giovanni Vinci, an irate Gunther demanded to face Otis in a match since this was not going to be how the night ended for Imperium. Following Gunther’s victory over Otis, Gable ran into the ring and gave Gunther a Chaos Theory.

In a follow up backstage segment, an angry Gunther lashed out at Ludwig Kaiser and Vinci and stated that he was going to fix their issues with Alpha Academy. Gunther also stated that he was going to talk to WWE official Adam Pearce to make his match with Gable official for next week’s RAW show.
