As noted before, AEW re-hired Ace Steel to the company several months following his release over his involvement in the All Out 2022 backstage brawl incident in September of 2022. As part of the terms of his rehiring, Steel returned to his role as a producer for the company but was required to work from a remote location and not allowed to be physically present backstage at AEW shows. These terms had led to issues between CM Punk and AEW officials prior to Punk’s return from suspension this past June and later caused more backstage issues over Punk’s demands for AEW Held of Talent Relations Christopher Daniels to be banned from AEW Collision shows.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that AEW released Steel from his contract with the company earlier today. Details regarding the nature of Steel’s release were not given.
Johnson reported that prior to his release, AEW officials had been working on plans for Steel to help train and work with their talent at a location somewhere in Florida. Those plans reportedly were dropped following Steel’s release from the company.
