WWE RAW Notes: One New Match, One Updated Match, & Potential New Match for Fastlane 2023

Monday’s WWE RAW show in Ontario, California featured one new match officially announced, one updated match, and one new potential match for WWE Fastlane 2023, which takes place on October 7th in Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.

In regards to the new match, this was announced to be a WWE World Heavyweight Championship Last Man Standing match of Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Seth Rollins (c).

This match was initially setup during last week’s RAW show following Rollins saying how he was starting to go crazy over Nakamura’s antics and went as far as to let Nakamura name the time and place for this rematch that Rollins has been demanding for weeks. During tonight’s RAW show, Rollins gave an in-ring promo demanding for Nakamura to respond tonight when this match would happen or else he would pull his title match offer and give it to someone else instead. Nakamura then appeared on the big screen and after some threats about wanting to take out Rollins for good, he revealed that this match would be taking place at Fastlane 2023 and under Last Man Standing rules.

In regards to the updated match, this was announced to be a 2-on-1 Handicap match of John Cena vs. The Bloodline (Jimmy Uso & Solo Sikoa).

This updated match was setup following WWE commentator Michael Cole stating that due to The Bloodline’s attack on John Cena and AJ Styles at this past Friday’s SmackDown show, the previously announced tag team match of Cena & Styles vs. The Bloodline will now be a Handicap match instead.

In regards to the new potential match, this was announced to be an Intercontinental Championship match of Tomasso Ciampa vs. Gunther (c).

This match was initially setup following a backstage segment involving Imperium and Ciampa. After some banter, Kaiser challenged Ciampa to a match on the show, which Ciampa agreed but only on the condition that if he won, then he would get a title shot for Gunther’s Intercontinental Championship. Following Ciampa’s victory over Kaiser, Ciampa confronted Gunther with a match contract and stated that he was going to take his title away which led to Gunther storming off. Later in the show, WWE commentator Michael Cole stated that next week’s RAW show will feature a contract signing segment featuring Gunther and Ciampa to make their match official.
